Vacate

So you’ve given your notice to Fisk & Nagle and you’re ready to move house. But there’s still a few things to do before the big day.
  • Check with your agent or landlord for the total amount owing for your final rent payment plus any outstanding water or utility bills. Depending on your moving day this might be more or less than your usual rental amount.
  • The landlord will be looking for new tenants so expect to have a few visitors. The agent will of course notify you of any inspections and minimise any interruption.
  • A final inspection of the property will occur on or close to your vacate date. Make sure everything is as you found it when you first moved in. Don’t forget to visit Fisk & Nagle to sign the bond release form.
  • Collect any keys, including letterbox keys, that friends or relatives might have and hand them in along with your own. Rent is payable until all keys are returned to the Fisk and Nagle.
  • Leave a forwarding address and telephone numbers with Fisk and Nagle and visit the post office for a mail redirection form or you can do it online here.
  • Subject to the condition of the property at the commencement of your tenancy you should ensure that:
  1. The property is left in a very clean and tidy condition throughout.
  2. All cupboards, shelves, drawers and benches to be cleaned.
  3. Walls, doors and ceilings to be cleaned of all marks.
  4. Stove, griller, oven, range hood and exhaust fans to be spotless.
  5. Windows, window sills and tracks to be cleaned inside and outside where possible.
  6. Any furniture, curtains or other items included with the property to be returned to original positions.
  7. Clean venetian blinds and wash curtains.
  8. All garbage, bottles and rubbish to be removed from the premises.
  9. The garage and/or storeroom to be cleaned out, free of cobwebs and grease marks removed from car space/garage.
  10. Bathrooms to be thoroughly cleaned with all mould and soap scum removed from tiles, grouting and shower screens. Ceiling mould must also be removed. Toilets to be cleaned inside and out, and the bathroom floors to be mopped.
  11. Lawns and edges trimmed and gardens weeded (this applies to townhouses and houses).
